2020 Padigan Syrah
Our first varietal Syrah comes from our newest vineyard planting in 2019. We purposefully selected rare clones of Syrah that are likely the only examples in Oregon or the PNW as a way of bringing distinctiveness to the wine. As this is the first wine from these young vines, we treated the wine very gently in the cellar with limited barrel aging in exceptionally delicate French oak. The wine’s profile is distinctly Syrah with intense blueberry and black raspberry fruit but also savory elements of olive tapenade, roasted meat, and white pepper. This is a wine of grace and refinement that should provide excellent accompaniment to grilled skirt steak served with garlicky chimichurri and blistered tomatoes. Enjoy 2023-2028.

BevX.com: 94 points; 4.5 stars; "Brilliant, dark ruby/purple color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of black currant and forest floor with supporting notes of campfire, boysenberry, and black tea. The palate confirms the nose delivering a black fruit-driven core with flavors of blueberry, black plum, five spice, and mineral. The finish is long and lingering with ripe tannins. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced with a meaty texture."
